Leicester had one shot in this game at the King Power, and it was not on goal. That's their lowest shot total for at least two decades. Their defensive discipline was good, and they almost stymied us. But early in the second half, Trossard ran onto a long ball, hesitated, and slid a lovely pass through the defender's legs and into Martinelli's stride, and Gabi tucked it into the far corner. That turned out to be enough to keep us top of the table after City's demolition of Bournemouth.
Crystal Palace got away with a 0-0 draw against Liverpool in a game in which they also did not get a single shot on goal. It's contagious.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that the Reds were drilled intensively on defensive discipline after the spanking they got from Real Madrid. I didn't see this one, but what I've read says that Palace was good value for their point.
DeleteThey'll have to step up soon, thoiugh, if they don't want to drift into a relegation battle. There are so many teams below them in the table, but it's by just a few points.
