The own goal blues spoiled a decent effort by CP, but such things happen. Gallagher gave us an early lead, and three points seemed in the cards until this unfortunate late error allowed Brighton to escape with a draw.
The Seagulls dominated the Eagles overall. VAR revealed a foul in the box on a corner and the spot kick was saved (it was an awful PK), and on the following corner Maupay had it in the net but only after kicking the ball out of your keeper's hands. Disallowed.
I hadn't until this year realized what a big deal this derby is. Dubbed the N23 Derby after the road that connects Brighton with South London, it's always hotly contested and recently featured dramatic last gasp goals.
