Double Disaster: Birmingham 2 - 0 Arsenal Women and Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 Arsenal (FA Cup)

Fortunately, neither of these catastrophes was televised in the US so I missed the full experience of both the men and women losing in huge upsets.  Days like this make me question why I care about sports.

  1. That was a huge upset, the more so since Arsenal puts a lot of effort into cups. We all have lots of days when our teams lose, and too many days when our teams lose ugly and play badly.

    1. We put out a fairly strong team, too. There were several second-stringers in there, and an 18 year old making his first start for us, but Saka, Odegaard, White, and Martinelli were in there and could not score, even after Arteta threw Lacazette in. This was a very damaging performance for a lot of reasons.

  2. Crystal Palace managed to win against Millwall, 2-1, but were not impressive in doing so. Those lower division teams are strong enough to sting the higher ranked teams now and then.

    1. Yeah, especially when they get to play at home. the field is prepared to make it difficult for passing teams and the fans make it a hostile atmosphere.
